My husband Rodney and I started this journey at the beginning of this year. We are building a Rome in the Fairwood Community. I want to detail our journey as well as hear from everyone about their journey. Plus we can all use each other as a resource. When we sign our life away they promise us the world so we will see.

Blinds
Where is everybody getting their blinds from? Any recommendations? Any deals to Ryan Home owners? CTI, Next Day Blinds?
I haven't found my final blinds/shades (it's going to take me forever to settle on something!) but we're getting top down/bottom up Levolor shades. JCPenney has a great deal ($55) for the pre-measured shades (e.g., 34x64) but if you need the custom sizes, they're actually cheaper at NextDayBlinds and Lowe's. Lowe's is also having a 20% off sale through Wednesday.
Home Depot has been recommended. I am using the paper ones as a temporary solution until I decide on paint colors which won't happen until next year (after the one time drywall warranty). In our last place I used Next Day Blinds for a few rooms and they did a great job, however, it was pricey. Good luck!
Sharon, I have a sense of what I want to do; however, in the meantime for privacy purposes I plan to get the temporary blinds from Home Depot. They come with two in a pack at $19.95 or $9.95 (one of the two, I can't remember but they have them). You simply MEASURE each window because they are different sizes, CUT, PEEL the backing off and place on the window. They come with these cute clips to create a little angle in the blinds. They are the perfect solution until you decide what window treatments you really want to install.
We got the Home Decorators Collection White Faux Wood Blind, 2 in. Slats for the updstairs windows. They are $33 a piece at Home Depot and are 35 x 64 inches. One of my wife's friends are making us curtains for the living room and dining room, and we're going to leave the family room and morning room open for now.
This is a great price Sheldon!! Did they install the blinds? Will Home Depot install the blinds too? I measured 34*64 and you mentioned 35*64. Is this for all your windows upstairs. What about your study? Are you installing the same blinds? We have so many windows in the Rome which I love!!! I am really mulling over my interior design. So far I know what I plan to use just for the study and bathroom windows! Lol
